TiNA Artist Call Out: 1-31 March 2016
THIS IS NOT ART (TINA) ARTIST APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
The annual TiNA Artist Call Out is now open. Artists are invited to apply directly to co-presenters National Young Writers’ Festival, Critical Animals and Crack Theatre Festival. If your practice falls between the cracks of experimental theatre, contorts words or turns critical thinking on its head, TiNA may well be for you. The place where artists come together, share work, test ideas, meet new people and explore the Newcastle CBD.
Now in its 19th year, This is Not Art continues to celebrate Newcastle as a first-rate creative city. As one of Australia’s leading contemporary and emerging arts festivals, TINA provides a national platform for experimental and emerging arts practices. Proudly Novocastrian, this year sees local Director representation amongst all co-presenters.
As always, TiNA will activate multiple venues across Newcastle – some old favourites, some new spaces. With a keen interest this year in creating a strong street presence, Octapod Director, Christina Robberds, encourages applications from artists with ideas for exploring and showcasing the city itself: “We want to create a buzz on the street over the October Long Weekend and want festival goers to stumble across the unexpected”.
Artist Information Sessions will be held across the country during March in Perth, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Newcastle. Come along, ask questions and find out what’s involved.
Artist applications close 31 March at midnight. For more information about how to apply and Artist Information Sessions, head to thisisnotart.org.
