I currently work at the University of Newcastle as a Technical Officer in Ceramics.
I began studying at Newcastle TAFE in 1979 then worked in my own studio for the next 8 years making mainly wheel thrown forms and a small amount of handbuilt work. In 1987 I enrolled in the BAVA at the University of Newcastle. When that course was completed I did a Graduate Diploma. I worked as a demonstrator and part time technical officer in ceramics from 1992-2004 when I became a full time TO. During this time I studied for a Masters at University of NSW. I continued my art practice and have exhibited consistently. The most notable was a solo show in Japan in1989. My work is mainly handbuilt now and is more sculptural although I still like to throw on the wheel. I was commissioned to design the bollards on Wheeler Place Newcastle. At present I am enrolled in a PhD which I hope to complete in 2012. After all this time I still love clay.
