SambaFrog Brazilian Dance and Percussion

SambaFrog is a Brazilian –style “samba school”, a dance and drumming company that specialises in bringing the excitement, energy and spectacle of Brazil’s famous carnival. Based in Newcastle, SambaFrog runs weekly classes in Brazilian drum and dance. From this a performing group is cultivated, made up of a multicultural group of individuals united by their passion for Brazilian culture, music and dance. The “bateria” or drummers get the party going, generating festive rhythms you just have to move to. Then samba dancers in beautifully elaborate costumes cap off the real “feast for the senses” that is Carnaval. SambaFrog has performed at numerous local festivals, events and venues such as; the Cambridge Hotel, the View Factory, Queen’s Wharf Brewery, Livesites’ Latin nights, Cultural Stomp festival, Art Sounds, the Maritime festival, Mattara parade, Lake Macquarie Australia Day celebration, Olive tree markets, and, has appeared as part of the Jet’s home ground entertainment at Energy Australia Stadium.

In 2002, Jean-Luc established Dance Central studio in Sydney with the vision of bringing together various dance styles in one location. Now based in Newcastle, Jean-Luc brings with him his energetic and exhilarating brand of Brazilian dance and percussion.
