Newcastle Community Feast
The Newcastle Community Feast will bring together people from culturally diverse backgrounds for an afternoon of shared food and music, drawn from their respective cultures, and will be held as part of the official launch of the Women of Heritage exhibition.
The Feast will bring together the artists from the Women of Heritage project, their family and friends, the broader community as well as engaging people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Women of Heritage is a visual storytelling initiative celebrating cultural diversity. The exhibition will showcase story lines of heritage, identity and gender of the 22 participants through a range of multidisciplinary artworks. This has been a self directed project delivered by multidisciplinary and community Newcastle based artist, Madalyn Ward (EarthlyInk founder).
This is a collaborative and multidisciplinary event including a musical performance by Newcastle’s culturally diverse acapella, Tamarillo, a poetry reading by Newcastle based author, Janette Hoppe of Papatuanuku Press and an array of cultural canapés.
Please join us to celebrate the launch of ‘Women of Heritage’ alongside the project’s 22 participants, and the project’s Creative Producer, Madalyn Ward of EarthlyInk.
Exhibition Dates: Saturday 7 Nov – Saturday 21 Nov 10am till 4pm (during The Emporium operational days of Wednesday – Saturday)
Launch: Saturday 7 November, 3-5pm.
