Inside Out Group Leader – Inclusive Artist Run Initiatives
Octapod and Maitland Regional Art Gallery have partnered to provide these opportunities for the community to gather, experience and discuss accessible and inclusive professional development opportunities, as well as provide the framework for an artist to build their leadership and group facilitation skills to become a Group Leader.
The program runs until Friday 2 December 2016 and will enable an artist interested in inclusive practice to learn skills to facilitate an Artist Run Initiative and/or group of creatives in 2017. Note that the establishment of the group is funding dependent.
The artist will be mentored over a series of meetings with Octapod’s Development Manager Justine Cogan and the Artist Run Initiative Newcastle’s (ARIN) Facilitator Dom Freestone to understand the foundations of facilitating and supporting an inclusive group of practicing artists to support:
- Social inclusion
- Opportunity to network
- Broadening professional skills development
- Guest presentations
- Peer-reviewed arts practice
- A place to share ideas and opportunities for artistic development
The primary purpose of this Group Leader position is to build an individual’s leadership skills and to gain information and knowledge to facilitate an Artist Run Initiative in Maitland.
For more information about the role of Group Leader or to submit an Expression of Interest, please contact Justine at Octapod on firstname.lastname@example.org or 02 4021 1605 before Thursday 13 October.
This program has been developed to enable inclusive and accessible professional development opportunities for artists and creative practitioners in Maitland and has been made possible through a partnership between Maitland Regional Art Gallery and Octapod and is supported by devolved funding administered by Accessible Arts on behalf of the icare (Insurance & Care NSW) and by Ability Links NSW.
