‘Identity’ exhibition: artists wanted
Octapod is calling for artists with disability and mental illness to get involved with an exhibition to be held at the Newcastle Art Space (NAS) as part of the PODspace pop up exhibition program in April/May 2015.
The theme for the exhibition is ‘identity’ – a universal theme that we can all relate to. What defines who you are? What makes you tick? How do you express that?
We are now accepting applications from artists who would like to get involved with this opportunity to exhibit in a group exhibition. All mediums are welcome, including both 2D and 3D work as well as video work. Works must be ready to hang. Pinnable work and work on canvas is ok. NO framed work will be accepted.
HOW TO APPLY:
If you are interested in submitting work for this exhibition, please fill out the IDENTITY Artist Application Form 2015 FINAL and either send via email to email@example.com or post to Octapod, PO Box 209 Islington NSW 2296. Applications close 27 March 2015.
Your application can be in written, audio or video format. Please note that the following limits apply:
– Written format (50 words maximum each for your artist biography and artist statement)
– Audio format (3 minutes)
– Video format (3 minutes)
WHEN IS THE EXHIBITION?

WHAT DOES IT COST?
Thanks to a generous sponsorship from the Disability Network Hunter, there are no costs for artists associated with this exhibition.
DOES OCTAPOD TAKE A COMMISSION?
Yes, our standard commission is 20% of art sales.
DO I HAVE TO SIT THE EXHIBITION?
Yes, artists are expected to help sit the exhibition, and will be rostered on over the exhibition period. Being present at your exhibition is a great way to promote your work to new audiences.
WHAT AUDIENCE NUMBERS CAN WE EXPECT?
Newcastle Art Space and Octapod will help promote your exhibition, but we encourage you to also tell everyone you know about it, so we can get more people to see your work.
WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE?
Applications close at 5pm on 27th March 2015. Note: This is a curated exhibition which means that not everyone who submits work will be accepted.
