The Olive Tree Market will bring the grounds of Maitland Regional Art Gallery alive with the Seasonal Autumn Olive Tree Market on May 12th. It’s also the perfect place for Unique Finds for Mother’s Day. Your mum is special, so your gift to her on Mother’s Day should be too! Skip mass produced goods and find something special for at Olive Tree on May 12th. Our makers and designers carefully created handmade pieces ensure that you can give a gift with meaning this Mother’s Day.  

If you haven’t visited The Olive Tree Market it’s time to discover Newcastle and The Hunter’s Leading Contemporary Art and Design Market! If you haven’t been to Olive Tree for a while, it’s time to come back and discover the creative community! The Seasonal Autumn Pop-up Olive Tree will feature over Think over 130 makers, designers, gourmet artisan producers and purveyors of street food.  

Enjoy live music all day long, from some of the best emerging talents from Newcastle and afar, and relax with family, friends and visitors to Maitland in the beautiful grounds of Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

Here are some sneak peaks of stallholders joining us on May 12th:

Hell Wench

Hell Wench is the perfect stall to find beautifully crafted self care products to make mum feel special. Maker Martha hand makes cold pressed oil-soaps, body scrubs, with Himalayan and natural rock salts, all of which are infused with a variety of essential oil blends and botanicals. Hell Wench also has a range of gorgeous hand thrown ceramics. Any mum would be happy with these beautiful products.

Desert Sunday Collective

Desert Sunday Collective have been a winning over local audiences with their amazing ferns, potted succulents and cacti. Branxton locals, creators Andrew and Amanda, have an infectious enthusiasm for these green lives. Their recently had a major success with a hugely popular pop-up at The Edwards. We are beyond excited to have them at Maitland on May 12th.

 

Studio Kaka

Pick up beautifully illustrated botanical cards, by artist Vickie Liu, perfect gifts for any mum. The maker also creates bigger versions of her detailed illustrations that would make any home look pretty! Easy.

Artisan Made

Maitland local, artist and graphic designer Jamie Pritchard, of Artisan Made creates original artworks, paper artifacts and stationery, as well as paper installations and decorations. Discover the makers intricate and delicate works and take home a beautiful original hand painted Mother’s Day card.

Danica Moorcroft

Emerging designer Danica Moorcroft is inspired by nature and her pieces combine the intricate textures of coral, with simple, classic shapes. Her current practice focuses on big statement pieces, including earrings and necklaces, in silver. Danica currently works from the Gaffa Gallery, a multi leveled Creative Precinct located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD next to Town Hall Station. Danica says she is inspired by working surrounded by a collective of talented jewellers and artists.

Bay Trader Co

If textiles and home wares are your mum’s passion then head for Bay Trader Co’s stall! The maker will feature new designs, and colours, on May 12th. We love the gorgeous macrame wall hangings, plant hangers and functional sculptural pieces created from rope.

Get ready to discover amazing foodies! A taste fest at Olive Tree.

The Line-up is looking delicious at the Autumn Olive Tree. Why not make a special hamper full of handmade goodness for Mother’s Day. Spoil your mum for breakfast or brunch. Including pasties from Covered in Crumbs, eclairs from Choux Patisserie, teas from Fleurette, or coffee from Sprocket, and handmade chocolates from Myrtle & Pepper Fine Chocolates. Stop in for lunch and enjoy live music under the trees which savouring delicious flavours. Including Turkish gozleme from Master Gozleme, Greek from the Haloumi Hut, Vietnamese from Vietyum, Middle Eastern from Zaytoona and Argentina from El Gringo.

 

Live Music on May 12th

The Autumn Seasonal Olive Tree we will feature yet another fantastic line-up of the finest up and coming local musicians. Including Acoustic duo Hermana who are influenced by R&B and have toured nationally, foot stomping blues from Jye Sharp, Hawaiian influenced pedal steel by trio The High Andies and Gypsy Jazz from Mimosa.

 

Screen Printing Workshops + Diana Jones of Jones Living

Do you love creative workshops? We are super excited to announce that talented textile designer and screen printer extraordinaire Diana Jones of Jones Living will teach screen printing workshops, for both adults and children, at the Autumn Seasonal Olive Tree. You may have experienced Di’s amazing designs, and quirky sense of humour, at Olive Tree over the years. She was one of our first, and most loved, Olive Tree stallholders so it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn screen printing from one of Newcastle’s creative gems!
