Dungeon Jazz Club
Dungeon Jazz club has been the home of contemporary jazz in Adamstown, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, since 1997. The venue is in the Dungeon Room, where jazz musicians can perform to a dedicated listening audience in an intimate setting.
2013 sees the introduction of multi artist concerts, with a modest charge to cover the musicians costs.
The Dungeon Jazz Club has provided opportunities for both up and coming young jazz musicians and local bands, holding 'Discovery Gigs' – allowing individual musicians the chance to jam with a professional group; and 'Jazzcomp'– where amateur musicians and bands compete for prizes.
Dungeon Jazz club started in 1997 as a project of the Adamstown Uniting Church and is now a members club. It has presented many of Australia's finest musicians such as Bruce Mathiske, Mike Nock, Paul McNamara, Julie Wilson, Terence Koo, Sax Blue and more. The Dungeon Big Band was formed from 18 local professional musicians and performs twice a year for the club.
Membership of the club for 2013 is $15 and automatically subscribes you to their informative newsletters, plus other benefits. You do not have to be a Member to be kept in the loop, you can subscribe to the newsletter for free. Please see their website for details.
