Cultural Infrastructure Plan 2025 SURVEY
The Cultural Infrastructure Program Management Office (CIPMO) was established in April 2017 to enable a sector-wide coordinated response to Cultural Infrastructure in NSW. CIPMO works in collaboration with Cultural Institutions, State Significant Organisations, other Government Departments and the broader arts and culture sector to create significant cultural precincts and infrastructure for New South Wales.
The formation of CIPMO, an office dedicated to the planning and delivery of Cultural Infrastructure, is one of the first of its kind in the world. CIPMO forms part of the Arts, Screen & Culture Division within the Department of Planning and Environment and is responsible for providing a centralised, coordinated approach to cultural infrastructure planning and priority project delivery in NSW.
This is essential to the Government’s vision for NSW to be known for its bold and exciting arts and culture that engages the community, supports innovation, facilitates economic development and reflects the state’s rich diversity.
In 2017-18 the NSW Government is investing $222 million in major cultural infrastructure projects, part of an $879 million suite of investments to rejuvenate cultural infrastructure. This is the biggest commitment to cultural infrastructure since NSW built the Sydney Opera House. The NSW Government will also be ensuring that investment into infrastructure is shared across the state in all areas including Western Sydney and regional NSW.
Have your say
We are committed to raise New South Wales’ cultural infrastructure to world class standards and ensure that as we go forward, we maintain and expand our arts infrastructure on a sound and long-term basis.
In order to achieve this, we will develop a comprehensive Cultural Infrastructure Plan. To learn more about the Cultural Infrastructure Plan download the Cultural Infrastructure Action Plan 2018.
Infrastructure NSW’s Cultural Infrastructure Strategy 2016 – Advice to the NSW Government is a starting point for the development of our Plan.
