Critical Animals Curator CALL OUT
Have a good idea or two and a bit of curatorial experience under your belt? Been dreaming up the perfect collection of artists and just wondering where you might be able to exhibit them? Sounds like you need to apply to be the Critical Animals’ 2018 Project Curator!
What Does this Involve?
Critical Animals is an annual conference that takes place over the first weekend in October in Newcastle, NSW. It’s a part of This is Not Art, one of Australia’s leading contemporary and emerging arts festivals, celebrating emerging and experimental practices.
Situated at the intersection of arts and research, Critical Animals is a space to share ideas, develop practice and form connections. The symposium brings together students, researchers, writers, artists, academics and thinkers who are critically engaged in creative and experimental art practices.
The Critical Animals 2018 Project Curator is responsible for the facilitation of an exhibition that will be shown at The Lock-Up during the festival.
Who Are We Looking for?
Critical Animals and The Lock-Up are on the hunt for a Project Curator. The successful applicant will work alongside the Co-Directors of Critical Animals and The Lock-Up staff to facilitate the Critical Animals Official Exhibition. This exhibition takes place at The Lock-Up from 27 September – 30 September 2018.
The theme for Critical Animals 2018 is ‘Give and Take’. It is encouraged that the curator uses the theme as a framework or starting point to develop and explore their curatorial project.
