Cessnock City Council Community and Cultural Development Dollar for Dollar Grant Scheme round 2017/18

The Cessnock City Council Community and Cultural Development Dollar for Dollar Grant Scheme round for 2017/18 will open on Monday 5 February 2018 and close 5:00pm, Friday 9 March 2018.

Grants are offered to not-for-profit community, arts and cultural groups to:

a)undertake projects, activities and events that increase opportunities for community participation and improve community well-being;

b)undertake projects, activities, events and projects that can demonstrate a benefit to the cultural or artistic development of the wider community; and

c)undertake improvements to Council owned facilities licenced to, occupied or leased by the group which will contribute to the cultural or artistic use of the facility.

2017/18 Priorities for funding 

  • Foster community spirit, identity and connection
  • Create opportunities to celebrate together
  • Engage the community in reconciliation activities
  • Engage young people
  • Engage disadvantaged members of the community
  • Celebrate heritage and culture
  • Improve the use of cultural and community facilities
  • Support diversity and inclusion in the community
  • Address community safety and perception of community safety

Grants will be provided on a Dollar for Dollar basis, i.e. up to a maximum of 50% of the cost of the project.  Grants will be accepted for amounts of up to $3000.

Community based organisations from outside the Cessnock LGA may apply and be considered for funding only if the project benefits the Cessnock LGA community.

To be eligible for funding, organisations must complete and submit a project acquittal for any previously funded projects.

Applications will be considered by Council’s Dollar for Dollar Grants Committee.

An information session providing an overview of the Community and Cultural Development Grant Scheme Guidelines, including eligibility will be held onWednesday 7 February 2018 at 10.00am -11.30am, at the Council Administration Building.
