CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Intersection Stories

Intersection Stories is seeking writers and visual artists for its debut publication.

Writers:  We are seeking short stories centered around loss and recovery, challenge and growth, trauma and healing, shame and change.

Your mission?  To write the same story twice.

Write it once as yourself in non-fiction format.  Next, write your story as a fictional character in an fictional land.  Are you a sock that needs to find its way out of the laundry basket and back to its mate?  A dragon flying over an ocean with a broken wing? A droid that wakes up on a faraway planet?  All genres welcome.


-2,500 words or less per story
-PDF, DOC, & DOCX formats accepted
-Intended Audience: Young Adult

In your cover letter, offer a few sentences about yourself and your writing and publication experience.  Please keep in mind that in the publication the fictional story will be read first, the non-fiction story second.

DEADLINE: November 1, 2017

Visual Artists:  We are also looking for visual artists to bring these stories to life.

We are open to all 2D media- photography, graphic novels, illustrations, sketches, claymation- sky’s the limit.  Please submit 10-15 of your favorite pieces to date in .jpg format.  If possible, include a mix of realistic and imaginative work.

Selected artists will be notified in mid-November.  If selected, you will have creative license to bring the one set of stories to life as you see fit.  You will be responsible for providing a four to eight images: 2-4 images that recreate the fictional story, and 2-4 images that recreate the nonfiction story.

Please keep in mind that our intended audience is young adult, and if selected, your work will need to be finished by March 1, 2018.
