Location

On the eve of the Newcastle Jazz Festival, this popular show is the perfect introduction to the festival.  

Featuring local well known artists Maureen O'Brien and Anousha Victoire with Gary Roberts on Bass, percussion, and mandolin plus popular local harmonicist Russ Redford, Petticoat Pioneers shares the music and the stories of the women in the early Jazz and Blues era.   Women such as Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, and Memphis Minnie who paved the way for the great icons of Jazz.

The night culminates in a tribute to the great Ella Fitzgerald and the wonderful Etta James who passed away earlier this year.

Music lovers, Jazz lovers, Blues lovers, and History lovers ...have - and will - enjoy this excellent feel-good night of entertainment.
