Mark Widdup of Cooks Hill Galleries and Artist Greg Somers invite you and your friends to the opening of the 'Land, Sea & Sky' exhibition.
Greg Somers has a distinctive way of seeing the world, finding balance between traditional drawing and painting from the heart, his atmospheric paintings are light filled and distinctive in composition. This exhibition of new works unearth the discovery of Newcastle by experiencing this city from a new perspective.
"It has been an amazing unfolding experience of discovery while looking for locations and places for painting landscapes of Newcastle. An especially rich experience of seeing, as for the first time, a city I have been to many times and thought I knew so well. When looking for subjects to paint I soon realised what a unique city Newcastle is - I discovered anew the character, history and charm and also the geography, the fall of the land, so to speak and the different areas so close in proximity...Painting for this exhibition has been a discovery."
