BOOK TALK: Scott Bevan on 'The Hunter'.
Local boy, ABC journalist and author Scott Bevan has paddled the length of the Hunter River and chronicles the journey in his latest book ‘The Hunter’. In partnership with the Singleton Historical Society & Museum Inc, Singleton Public Library is hosting a talk by Scott.
Scott’s work has taken him around the world but it is the river which ran through his childhood that he writes about. In his curiously named kayak, Pulbah Raider, Scott sets out to paddle the river’s length from the Barrington Tops to the Pacific Ocean at Newcastle. The river has inspired artists, poets and storytellers. It has helped realise dreams and make fortunes, from mining to farming and it has washed away livelihoods — and lives.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to have an author of such caliber and renown return to his local community to talk about his new book ‘The Hunter’”, said Alexander Mills, Library Coordinator.
Copies of Scott’s book ‘The Hunter’ will be for sale on the evening with both cash and credit card acceptable. Light refreshments will be served.
