CultureHunter.org is managed by the Octapod Association (Octapod) and funded by Arts NSW.
The information within the CultureHunter.org site is subject to the following terms and conditions.
By becoming a member of CultureHunter.org, you accept these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions may be revised at any time.
Where possible, registered members will be emailed updated versions of these terms and conditions if they are amended.
Octapod reserves the right to deny or cancel membership of individuals or organisations deemed to be using the site in a manner that is not appropriate or not applicable to the purpose of CultureHunter.org.
Octapod may deny or remove content added by members without notice if it is deemed to be inappropriate.
Promotion of items, events or other activities
Items, events or other activities added by members on the CultureHunter.org website must be related to art and/or culture in Newcastle and the Hunter (including the Upper Hunter).
Discussions taking place on the forums must be of an arts or cultural community nature.
Access
Octapod will provide you with individual access to the website by way of your registered email address and/or username, and a password. By using CultureHunter.org you agree to:
• keep passwords and/or any supplied security credentials confidential, and
• change your password regularly and/or when prompted.
Octapod will assume that any online transaction using your access credentials is undertaken by you.
If you know or suspect that your access credentials have become known to someone else or are lost or stolen please email us immediately at admin@culturehunter.org. We will provide you with new access credentials, and terminate the validity of your previous credentials.
Where Octapod believes or detects that unauthorised access to the website has or may occur, we will (with or without prior notice to you);
• limit, restrict or deny access to CultureHunter.org until the risk has been removed; and
• change your access credentials and notify you of this change.
We suggest that when accessing CultureHunter.org from public computers (e.g. Internet Cafes, Libraries etc), you ensure you log out of CultureHunter.org correctly and close all browser windows prior to leaving the computer you are working at. This is to ensure that your access credentials do not inadvertently allow other individuals access to your account.
Privacy
Octapod respects your right to privacy and although not bound by, chooses to adopt the Australian National Privacy Principles when handling information about you.
We collect personal information when individuals register for this website or update their user profiles, including contact details . This information is published on various sections of this website unless you select to not display this information publicly when registering for the website or updating your profile. If you do not select this option, your information is available to the public generally. We therefore cannot be responsible for any use or disclosure of the information you post to the publicly accessible sections of this website. We only use personal information collected from you to publish on this website and to gather general statistics of the Hunter Region. This statistical information will be provided to third party organisations, however care will be taken to ensure that individuals cannot be identified from the information provided. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone and we takes steps to ensure that it is stored securely.

Octapod strives to maintain security standards for the CultureHunter.org website and makes all reasonable efforts to protect the website, its content and its members’ and users’ content from unauthorised access.
You should be aware, however, that the World Wide Web is a public network and there may be a potential risk that your transactions are being viewed, intercepted or modified by third parties or that files which are downloaded may contain computer viruses, disabling codes, worms or other devices or defects.
Octapod and/or its associated organisations are not responsible for any damage which may be suffered from the use of its website (see the Limitation of Liability clause below).

We may review aggregate information in our web site logs from time to time to generate statistics about access to its site, such as those parts that are most popular.
