Octapod will facilitate a meeting of the Hunter Arts Access Network (HAAN) on Friday 24 May. At this meeting we will discuss terms of reference for the Network and ways that the Network can support participation in the arts by people with disability.

Octapod is calling for applications for the position of Access Officer. This is a part time contract position for 7 hours per week for three months, with an expected start date in late April 2013.
Dinner to Support Down Syndrome in the Hunter

An enchanted evening of dinner and dancing on 31 August to support Down Syndrome Hunter. DSNSW (Hunter) supports all people with Down syndrome in the Hunter Region from Council areas of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Dungog, Gloucester, Upper Hunter and the Great Lakes.

FORUM: How can the National Disability Insurance Scheme assist artists with a disability?

A free forum will be held on Thursday 28 February, 10am – 3pm and be at Newcastle Museum. The forum is a partnership between Accessible Arts, The Octapod Association and the City of Newcastle.
Artists (of all abilities), arts workers, carers, service providers and arts organisations are welcome to attend to join the discussion.

IDEAS is looking to commission an artist/s to create an iconic Novocastrian lounge for the 2013 ‘PossABLE IDEAS EXPO to be held on 3rd and 4th May this year at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.
