Culture Port Stephens

As part of the National Trust’s Heritage Festival Port Stephens Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee has organised an exhibition showcasing the collections and research of the local historical organisations.

A display of pottery by ‘The Barn Potters’, associated with Port Stephens Community Arts Centre.

The CultureHunter Project Officer will present a series of one-hr interactive workshops, assisting those active in culture to register and share content on the Culture Port Stephens Website. 4 sessions will be held initially, with further workshops scheduled if there is demand.  

A free postcard is being produced to extend awareness of, and participation in, this website and  Culture Port Stephens Network.

Comprising the main population areas of Nelson Bay, Soldiers Point, Anna Bay, Medowie, Raymond Terrace and Williamtown, the Port Stephens LGA is a predominately rural area, with a significant proportion of parks, forests and reserves. The Hunter Region’s main airport, known as Newcastle Airport, is located here, which offers flights to and from most Australian capital cities.

The Aboriginal Enterprise Development Officer Program provides a number of services to the Hunter, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephen's and Great Lakes areas including the following.

Desert Moon Dancers are a Belly Dance Fusion group. We like to enliven our dance with the spirit of cultures from around the world. Dancing the sacred feminine essence of ancient wisdoms, to bring joy, healing, oneness and empowerment.

Maureen is a professional entertainer based in the Newcastle area and regularly tours along the east coast of Australia  performing at numerous festivals, concerts, wineries, restaurants.

She has 5 albums to her credit and 3 of these have received regular airplay across Australia and Internationally.

"STRETCHED" are 2 young stilt walkers who add colour to every occasion with their vibrant costumes and are available for any events. Toby and Holly especially attract the children in the crowd with their bubble blowing but amaze all.

 The SeaSide Singers is a non-profit community choir based in Nelson Bay. There are  no auditions and anyone who loves singing is welcome to join.  We meet Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

The choir  has 50 members of all ages and sings a varied repetoire and gives perfomances for local events and functions.

The mission for Events Port Stephens is to provide strategic direction, advice, resource and support for key events that bring and create significant economic and community benefit for the region. Our long term strategy is to continue to build resources, infrastructure and support services to build and perpetually develop Port Stephens as an Event Destination of Choice.
