Octapod is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting a vibrant, diverse and sustainable arts community in the Hunter region.
Octapod acts as a producer and facilitator of creative projects in the Hunter region. In addition to supporting a number of key projects we provide advice and networks to the local creative community.
CURRENT PROJECTS MANAGED BY OCTAPOD
THIS IS NOT ART FESTIVAL(TiNA)– Australia’s premier independent, emerging and experimental arts festival held in Newcastle. This Is Not Art is comprised of four wonderful festivals that cover electronic music and culture, independent music, critical thinking and all kinds of writing. Octapod coordinates the TINA Festival and works closely with the artistic directors of each festival that sit under the TINA umbrella.
CULTUREHUNTER.ORG – the Hunter’s online arts directory – a useful resource for artists/arts organisations. Membership is FREE.
PODSPACE – is an pop up exhibition and education program run on a voluntary basis by a group of emerging artists and curators.
CREATIVE ACCESS PROGRAM – Octapod supports participation in the arts by people with disability through facilitation of the Creative Access Network, Art Counts (annual art exhibition for people with disability and their carers), and the Hunter Artsworker Database.
SMART ARTS – Creative industries and cultural sector development program – a series of events supporting the creative industries in Newcastle to be innovative, sustainable and dynamic. Offering workshops and associated events.
