Split Second is an exhibition of two artist's works, Karen Ma's mixed media and Caroline Lobsey's photography.
Karen explores painting on long stretches of lustrous silk that hangs delicately to convey transparent colours and a sense of fragility. These works are accompanied with text on pebbles that share the idea of a fragile or contemplative moment in which life can change in a split second.
Caroline Lobsey's photographs have a transient sensibility. She captures those moments caught in a split second of sight, whether this be while traveling in a car or walking down the road. The soft evocative images have an appearance more relative to painting rather than photography. Some of her photographs are drawn and manipulated to further the mystery of the image.
