Supports artists to undertake overseas studio residencies
A grant that supports artists to undertake overseas studio residencies
About the grant
Skills and Arts Development – Residency grants support excellence in the arts by providing professional development opportunities for craftspeople, designers, media artists and visual artists.
The residencies are allocated in set time-blocks. This is determined by the relative ranking of the successful applicants.
You can apply for a:
$10,000 three-month residency in Barcelona, Helsinki, Liverpool, London, New York, Paris, Rome or Tokyo
$25,000 six-month residency in New York, known as the Australia Council for the Arts and Anne & Gordon Samstag ISCP Residency
$35,000 12-month residency in Berlin
Please note that some studios:
Do not allow or discourage partners and/or children to accompany artists during their residency
Are specific about the artforms they accept.
Applicants for studio residencies should download a copy of the overseas studio factsheet to check specific details.
Studios are booked far in advance and there are limited options regarding the timing of residencies. If you are unable to take up your residency at the time allocated, it may be offered to another applicant.
The selection process for the Berlin residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien is in two stages. Applicants are short-listed by the Visual Arts Board, with the Künstlerhaus Bethanien making the final decision.
Out-of-time applications are not accepted to this category.
