2013 is yet to start at The Olive Tree Market due to the last two market dates experiencing dangerous weather conditions. So we are scheduling an extra special market! Come and wander in Newcastle's Dedicated Contemporary Handmade Art & Design Market with family and friends and support our talented artisan community.
March's 16th's market will feature new work from Olive Tree stallholders who traditionally take a break over summer to find inspiration for the coming year and to create new work.
New stallholders and business partners Elisabeth Logan and Morag Argiris of Oliochi who have created a high quality range of Children's bedding and soft furnishings featuring vibrant designer fabrics in striking designs.
Jana Lindstrom the designer and creator of Beep Bicycle Bells who produces quality steel bicycled bells, which are each individually hand painted in a choice of retro colours and original designs.
Nuria Mestres originally from Spain is the creator of Chompa and works exclusively in textiles and creates crocheted clothing and home wares from her own designs and from vintage patterns. Nurias childhood memories are full of cross-stitch, knitting, crochet, sewing machines and of watching her mother, aunts and grandmother constantly create. This was the starting point for what is now her passion. Nurias latest creations include lace collars to dress up outfits, which are currently a highly popular fashion item and tops for women and girls, which can be made to order in various styles and colours.
Bumble Beeswax Candles who hand make 100% Australian Beeswax Candles that not only look beautiful but also are great for the environment as they are a totally natural product.
Handmaiden Vintage has many new paper creations including beautiful vintage inspired paper bunting in gorgeous prints.
Trish Stenzel of Wanderlust Clothing fame will increase her fashion range at this years The Olive Tree Market with a new collection featuring timeless pieces made from travel friendly fabrics and many designs that are multi functional & give many looks from just one garment. The Wanderlust label sums up the free spirited nature that has seen the designer Trish Stenzel travel, live and work around the globe.
Natalie Mitchell from Lhami creates natural organic skincare that smell divine! Her range includes her new 100% natural perfumes made from plant oils.
Sandra Ceramics will feature new ceramic designs for her home wares range including bright new colours and wearable art in the form of necklaces pendants and brooches.
There will be a special new feature on March 2nd! Anita Jones is one of The Olive Tree markets most popular stalls with her delicious macaroons, which sell out each market by mid morning. On March 2nd Anita will debut her new venture: a restored 1950s caravan that will moonlight as a high tea setting where visitors to Olive Tree can sit and enjoy taking in the market while savoring Ms Jones wonderful macaroons in a multitude of flavours!
Earthern Rhythms African Drumming will play from 10:30am- 11:00am & then hold a drumming workshop for all ages for 30mins from 11:30am at the cost of only $5 for participants.
