The Terrace Bar is a new two-level venue on Hunter St Newcastle, featuring a small bar serving craft beer, wine and cocktails on the ground floor, and an arts venue on the top floor. We aim to be Newcastle's premier cultural venue, offering not just music, but also providing a space for artists creating video art, film, performance art, poetry and other readings, debates, panels, single night installations, and even small theatre performances. We are open Thursday through Sunday, and are programming a calendar of different events every night we are open.
We open on June 22 and are filling the calendar now! We are seeking curators, filmmakers, video and multimedia artists, writers, speakers, and performers of all kinds to present or participate in our calendar of events. If you are a creator or curator, please touch base with us for more information, or even pitch us a developed idea for your event by emailing info.theterracebar@gmail.com
We will give anything local and interesting a shot, and will try to fit in touring artists where possible. We are prioritising non-music events, and are hoping to fill most Friday and Saturday nights with other arty and cultural events, to provide a diverse range of cultural activity within Newcastle nightlife.
Our arts venue is essentially a black box which can hold up to 100 people standing, or we can pull out chairs for seated events. We are equipped with a PA System and video projector thanks to our wonderful pledgers towards http://theterracebar.pozible.com (still going with a bit more time left to pledge if you like!). The venue has its own bar and is completely self-contained. Events can be ticketed and we can provide door staff, or for events with lower overheads, we can make free events work too. We can work with you to help you make your event work!
Please forward this to the creative types that you know, and share this around your networks. Together we can make something new, interesting and awesome happen every weekend in Newcastle!
