Art in the Park
Submitted by culturehunter-info on 26 September 2012 - 5:25am
The idea is to involve as many Arts organisations as possible from across the Hunter to show unity and support for the event, and to show what a strong visual arts community we have and how important it is to the wider community, and to the economy.
HAN invite Artists whether they be professional, student, community or dabblers to Civic Park and set up there easel and use the crowds, stalls, colour, gardens architecture etc. for inspiration to create. Families would be invited to come and set up a picnic rug, pick up a visual diary and start drawing. HAN has spoken to Newcastle Now and The City of Newcastle, and they are both keen on becoming involved and to provide some funding and promotion for the day.
It would be a wonderful sight to see the park full of Artisan stalls selling Art and Artists creating Art. HAN will seek out quotes on getting visual diaries to hand out with pencils, and also pre-stretched canvas' to give away and will see what funding we can get to fund art materials to give away.
We can also organise a post event exhibition in 2013 across Newcastle - Nobby's Lighthouse, pop up galleries in Newcastle CBD and other galleries around Newcastle.
How can you contribute?
* We essentially want to show unity so want to get as many logo's as possible on the media releases, posters and social media promotions.
* We need your help with inviting Artists to attend.
* You can hand out your promotional material on the day.
* You can help on the day
Of course it would be great if your organisation can also provide financial support for the day, however this is more about a collaborative approach to support fine arts and we would be happy with your moral and promotional support!
There is much to do, and we need to start marketing the event in a short amount of time, so please get back to me asap if you think you want to support the Arts so we can include you in the list of supporters and include your logo in the marketing.

Newcastle, NSW 2300Get involved in an event in conjunction with Summer Art Bazaar in Civic Park on Saturday 1st December 2012. Hunter Arts Network have been running Artist demonstrations for a few years now as part of Art Bazaar and has proved to be popular. HAN had planned on organising a larger presence of Artists creating in public, however in light of the cut in funding to Fine Arts in TAFE we want to make this a much larger event in it's own right to be a celebration of creativity and the value of making art.
