The Olive Tree Market will come alive on November 4th with an amazing market featuring 145 stalls of creative and innovative makers, designers and gourmet foodies. Discover a collective of new makers alongside market favourites, take part in a workshop with textile artist Inside Jo B, and enjoy live music all day long from some of the best emerging talents from Newcastle and afar.
Standouts on November 4th will include.
Mother + Joey
With skills in dressmaking, a love for textiles, and a desire for clothes which were classic, stylish and made to last, Peta and Rowena of Mother + Joey, decided to make what we couldn’t find for themselves and their own children, and as a result launched their brand mother + joey is Australian first clothing label dedicated to creating matching outfits and the collections are designed and created in the creators Hunter Valley workshop. Tailor made from hand-selected fabrics, including soft linens, fine cottons and locally sourced leathers, in natural and earthy colour palettes, this is a label not to miss!
By the Sea Collection
Creator Janejira Carballo has a background in fashion design and was inspired to create a collection of accessories that had the environment at heart. ‘By The Sea Collection’ uses sustainable and eco-friendly materials to create fashion accessories and home decors including Olive Tree favourites, amazing cork bags clutches and wallets. Each piece is has a super stylish design, is softer than leather, and the most importantly to the creator, they are vegan friendly.
Body of Water
Local designer, and surfer Toni Rastovich creates ocean apparel for all women, of any size, who love to surf, swim, paddle or float around in any body of water. Toni creates stylish and functional beach wear, in fabulous prints that are made in locally in Newcastle. What’s not to like!
Tom Croft- Indigenous Artist
Artist Thomas Croft originates from the Barngala clan and is passionate about creating artwork that connects to country. Tom paints stories which depicts the formation and constant change of our country and loves to paint things which hold cultural significance such as fire, water, sea animals, land animals, and especially Numbadda (Whale) which holds significant value to his people.
Baccos Bakery + Gourmet Foodies + Food trucks
Get ready to discover delicious crisp bread, grissini, sourdough bread and sweet biscuits from the new kids on the block Baccos Bakery. Creators Kristy & Luigi Papagni pride themselves on using extremely high quality local ingredients including organic flour from Gunnedah, extra virgin olive oil from Moree, spices grown in Merriwa and white wine from Pokolbin. Yummo!
Live Music on the day
Live music is an integral part of showcasing the creative community to Newcastle. Performers on November 4th will include: Blake Morgan, The Dew Cats, The 345’s, Georgie Rose, Byren and Jason Lowe.
Artist Workshop with Eco Textile Designer Inside Jo B
Do you love creative workshops, love eco-fashion & hand printed textiles, then this is the workshop for you! Textile artist & slow fashion designer Jo Broederlow of Inside Jo B will hold a Forage, Flower & Fold. Natural Dyeing Workshop at our November market. In this inspiring 2 hour workshop you will learn the basics of Natural Dyeing & how to Bundle Eco Dye & create beautiful textiles with plants. Go to the link below for more information+ bookings
If you’re driving to Civic Park- park all day at the Civic West Car park for $6:50 OR if your coming from the north or Newcastle then Harbour Park Car Park is the easiest access and has a flat rate of $5.
