Cessnock City Council
Located west of Newcastle, the Cessnock LGA includes the major settlements of Cessnock, Pokolbin, Branxton, Greta, Kurri Kurri and Weston. The area is widely known for its vineyards, which is Australia’s oldest wine region.
Cessnock City Council provides a number of services and facilities to support community and cultural life in the area. It also has plans in place which identify current needs together with strategies that are being pursued to further improve the quality of life for our residents and visitors.
Cessnock Local Government Area has a rich cultural and social heritage which is summed up in the phrase "Mines, wines and people". It also has a wide range of cultural facilities and activities offering diverse opportunities for the residents of the area and the millions of visitors who come throughout the year to enjoy what the region has to offer.
