The Commons is founded on the principles of encouraging and enabling creativity, environmental sustainability, skill-sharing and social justice.

It was established in 2004. The HCEC is a resource-hub for groups and individuals working towards environmental and social justice. It provides a space for groups to network and collaborate on campaigns.

Speech Night

The night involves 3-4 people giving short speeches on any topic they want, though something that they are not a recognised expert in. Each speech is followed by a short Q&A with the audience. People can talk about their passions, their experiences, their ideas.
