CultureHunter.org is a resource dedicated to arts and culture in the Hunter region. It is an artist development project of Octapod Association and has run since 2006. The site has been redeveloped in 2011 and boasts new networking functions.  Culturehunter.org is funded by Arts NSW.

Build your profile. Culturehunter.org is dedicated to arts and culture and is specially set up to allow users to create an online profile. You can add pictures and now even video to your profile so it puts you and your work forward as well as possible.

Promote your event on the What’s On page or add an Opportunity to the Noticeboard. Culturehunter.org is devoted to the Hunter region, and because it’s free to list, everyone gets the same space and there is no dominance by big promoters.

THE OCTAPOD ASSOCIATION

The Octapod Association is a non profit arts and media organisation based in the heart of Newcastle. It acts as a resource base for creative projects in the Hunter region. In addition to managing culturehunter.org, it produces the This Is Not Art (TINA) Festival, supports artists to work with communities on arts based projects, and supports an artist run initiative, Podspace Gallery.

ARTS NSW

Arts NSW is the NSW Government’s arts policy and funding body. Arts NSW aims to foster a spirited arts and cultural environment, which values our artists and our heritage, builds community, excites our imagination and inspires our future. It funds key arts organisations, manages a portfolio of properties used for cultural activities and advises the Government and arts sector on effective support for the arts. It also encourages participation in, and broader access to, the arts and supports artists and cultural organisations to create and present exciting and innovative work.

Events Hunter is the premier independent, central online platform for facilitating business, non profit, sports and community events in the Hunter. Linking together event organisers, venues, keynote speakers and the community, Events Hunter incorporates free online listings and promotions for events, advertising and sponsorship, event consulting and network directories.
Established in 2011, Events Hunter engages the community via social media, enewsletters and its online events calendar.

Arts Upper Hunter drives creative activity in the pursuit of cultural diversity and contemporary expression.   This is done through advocacy for the Arts on local, state and federal levels.  Arts Upper Hunter publishes a monthly newsletter of activites and opportunities both inside and out of the area, assists artists and groups to access funding resources, provides support and referral services for local artists, are a point of contact for touring organisations, works closely with Local Government in the development of cultural opportunities, applies for funding and instigates projects within the area.The Arts Upper Hunter Board consists of 12 member organisation who represent Local Council and the community in the Local Government Areas of, Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Gloucester and Dungog.

The Hunter Arts Network, better known as HAN, is a non-profit incorporation of Artists, Designers, Jewellers and craft people from the Hunter, and is a membership based organisation funded by membership fees and sponsorship from Moray & Agnew Lawyers.  HAN exists to represent, promote and develop visual arts, crafts and design with an emphasis on professional practitioners.  HAN offers a range of services to artists and manages the seasonal Art Bazaar.  Hunter artisans are encouraged to join HAN.  Over the last 10 years ART BAZAAR has become a highly anticipated event for both the public and the participating stallholders. It has stimulated the arts community and increased public awareness of the Hunter’s diverse artistic culture, successfully displaying the many individuals, groups, organisations and businesses.
